Creamy Strawberry-Avocado Smoothie

Creamy Strawberry-Avocado Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Fresh Strawberries: Hulled and sliced (frozen also works for a colder drink).

  • 1/2 Ripe Avocado: Sliced or scooped out.

  • 1 Medium Banana: Sliced (use a frozen banana for a thicker, “milkshake” consistency).

  • 1 cup Liquid Base: Choose based on your preference:

    • Creamy: Unsweetened almond milk or oat milk.

    • Classic: Whole milk or coconut milk.

    • Light: Coconut water.

  • 1-2 tsp Sweetener (Optional): Honey, maple syrup, or a pitted date if the fruit isn’t sweet enough.

  • Optional Boosters: A squeeze of lime juice (to keep the color bright) or a scoop of vanilla protein powder.

Instructions

  1. Layer the Ingredients: Add your liquid base to the blender first. This prevents the fruit from getting stuck at the bottom. Follow with the avocado, then the bananas and strawberries.

  2. Blend: Start on a low speed to break up the avocado and fruit, then increase to high. Blend for about 45–60 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and no green flecks of avocado remain.

  3. Adjust Consistency:

    • Too thick? Add another splash of your liquid base and pulse.

    • Too thin? Add a few ice cubes or more frozen fruit and blend again.

  4. Serve: Pour into a chilled glass. For a presentation like the photo, you can garnish with a fresh strawberry slice on the rim.

Why this combination works

  • The Avocado: It adds healthy fats and fiber, making the smoothie very filling. It also acts as a natural emulsifier for that “whipped” look.

  • The Strawberry: Provides the vibrant pink color and a tart balance to the richness of the avocado.

  • The Banana: Acts as the primary sweetener and adds a smooth, custardy base.
