Detailed Instructions
1. Prepare the Pan and Oven
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Line a round baking dish or cake pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
2. Mix the Wet Ingredients
-
In a large bowl, mash 2 of the bananas until smooth.
-
Whisk in the 2 eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and one portion (50 g) of the sugar until well combined.
3. Combine Dry Ingredients
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and the remaining portion (50 g) of sugar.
-
Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet banana mixture. Do not overmix; stir just until no flour streaks remain.
4. Add the Chocolate
-
Gently fold in about ½ cup of the chocolate chips into the batter.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
5. Top and Bake
-
Peel the remaining banana and slice it in half lengthwise.
-
Place the two halves face-up on top of the batter (as seen in the first image).
-
Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips around the banana slices.
-
Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. Cool and Serve
-
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before lifting it out.
-
Slice and serve warm to enjoy the melty chocolate chips.
