Fluffy Condensed Milk Bread

Ingredients

The Dough:

  • 3 ½ cups (450g) all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup (120ml) warm milk

  • 1/3 cup (80g) sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 large egg

  • 4 tbsp (55g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 tsp instant yeast

  • ½ tsp salt

The Glaze:

  • 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk

  • 2 tbsp melted butter


Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, whisk together the warm milk, instant yeast, and a tablespoon of the condensed milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

  2. Make the Dough: In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine the flour, salt, the rest of the condensed milk, and the egg. Pour in the yeast mixture and knead until a shaggy dough forms.

  3. Knead in Butter: Add the softened butter one tablespoon at a time, kneading continuously for about 8–10 minutes until the dough is smooth, elastic, and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

  4. First Rise: Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm spot for about 1–1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

  5. Shape: Punch down the dough. Divide it into equal portions and roll them into small balls or flatten and roll into cylinders. Arrange them side-by-side in a greased loaf pan.

  6. Second Rise: Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until the dough reaches the top of the pan.

  7. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until the top is a deep golden brown.

  8. Glaze: While hot, whisk the glaze ingredients together and brush generously over the top of the bread to give it a signature shine and extra sweetness.
