Red Velvet Strawberry Cake 

Ingredients

Cake layers (red velvet)

– 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

– 1 ½ cups granulated sugar

– 1 tsp baking soda

– 1 tsp cocoa powder

– 1 tsp salt

– 1 ½ cups vegetable oil

– 1 cup buttermilk (room temp)

– 2 large eggs

– 2 tbsp red food coloring

– 1 tsp vanilla extract

– 1 tsp white vinegar

 

Cream cheese frosting

– 16 oz cream cheese (softened)

– ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)

– 4 cups powdered sugar

– 1 tsp vanilla extract

 

Strawberry sauce (drip)

– 1 cup fresh strawberries (pureed)

– ¼ cup sugar

– 1 tbsp lemon juice

– 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water

 

Topping

– Fresh strawberries (halved)

– Whipped cream (optional)

 

Instructions

1. *Preheat* oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease & line three 8-inch round pans.

2. *Mix dry*: flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa, salt.

3. *Mix wet*: oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla. Combine with dry mix.

4. *Add vinegar*, mix briefly. Divide batter into pans.

5. *Bake* 25–30 min. Cool completely.

6. *Frosting*: beat cream cheese & butter, add powdered sugar & vanilla until smooth.

7. *Strawberry sauce*: simmer puree, sugar, lemon juice (5 min), thicken with cornstarch slurry. Cool to syrupy.

8. *Assemble*: layer cake → frosting → repeat. Pour strawberry sauce over top for drip effect.

9. *Decorate*: pipe whipped cream around edges, arrange fresh strawberries on top.
