Strawberry Chocolate Layer Cake Recipe
Ingredients
Cake layers (chocolate sponge)
– 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
– ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
– 1 ½ tsp baking powder
– 1 tsp baking soda
– ½ tsp salt
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– ½ cup brown sugar
– ½ cup vegetable oil
– 2 large eggs
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 1 cup whole milk
– ½ cup boiling water
Filling & frosting
– 2 cups heavy whipping cream (chilled)
– ¼ cup powdered sugar
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 2–3 fresh strawberries, sliced (for layering)
– Chocolate ganache (1 cup dark chocolate + ½ cup heavy cream)
Decoration
– Fresh strawberries (whole, for topping)
– Chocolate chips or shavings
Instructions
1. *Preheat* oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round pans.
2. *Mix dry ingredients*: flour, cocoa, baking powder, soda, salt, sugars.
3. *Add wet ingredients*: oil, eggs, vanilla, milk. Mix until smooth.
4. *Add boiling water* to thin the batter; pour into pans.
5. *Bake* 30–35 min. Cool completely.
6. *Whip cream*: beat chilled cream, powdered sugar, vanilla until stiff peaks form.
7. *Assemble*: place one cake layer, spread cream + strawberry slices, add second layer.
8. *Cover* with chocolate ganache, then arrange whole strawberries and chocolate chips on top.
9. *Chill* 1–2 hours before serving.
