The Homemade Butter Cookies
Before making the sausage, you’ll need to bake the cookie base using your ingredients:
-
Prep: Mix 2 eggs, salt, sugar, melted butter, and vanilla sugar. Fold in the flour and baking powder to form a dough.
-
Bake: Shape into small cookies and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 12–15 minutes until golden.
-
Crush: Once cooled, crush them into a mix of fine crumbs and small chunks.
Phase 2: The “Sweet Sausage” Assembly
To turn those cookies into the dessert shown in your image, you typically need to add a chocolate binder:
Additional Ingredients Needed:
-
100g Butter
-
100g Sugar
-
3-4 tbsp Cocoa Powder
-
2-3 tbsp Milk or Cream
-
Optional: Chopped walnuts or hazelnuts (for the “fat” look in the salami)
Instructions:
-
Melt the Binder: In a small saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, milk, and cocoa powder. Heat over low until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is smooth.
-
Mix: Pour the chocolate mixture over your crushed butter cookies. Stir until the crumbs are well-coated and the mixture is moldable.
-
Shape: Lay out a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Place the mixture in the center and roll it tightly into a log (sausage) shape.
-
Chill: Refrigerate for at least 3–4 hours (or overnight) until firm.
-
Finish: Remove the wrap and roll the log in powdered sugar to give it the authentic “salami” look before slicing.
